This is a result of the fact that mobile phones are part and parcel of our modern world and as more people seek better ways to use their mobile devices, accessories such as Bluetooth headsets and speakerphones have come to the picture.
Bluetooth technology, in simple words, is wireless technology. Bluetooth headsets, for instance, do away with the cable that is normally connected between a headset and a phone or a headset and another device. Likewise, this hands-free calling is promoted with the use of speakerphones.

It is not unusual for someone to own both a headset and a speakerphone, so you can actually purchase both and just use which one you feel is the most appropriate for a particular time.
