Benefits of Bluetooth Headsets and Speakerphones

Until recently, those who wanted to use wireless headsets and speakerphones only had few options but not anymore thanks to Bluetooth technology. Headsets and speakerphones enabled by Bluetooth are all on the rage today, causing these devices to become more accessible and affordable to an average person.

Today, there must be hundreds of different brands and models of Bluetooth headsets and speakerphones on the market. This is a result of the fact that mobile phones are part and parcel of our modern world and as more people seek better ways to use their mobile devices, accessories such as Bluetooth headsets and speakerphones have come to the picture.

Bluetooth technology, in simple words, is wireless technology. Bluetooth headsets, for instance, do away with the cable that is normally connected between a headset and a phone or a headset and another device. Likewise, this hands-free calling is promoted with the use of speakerphones.

Obviously, Bluetooth headsets and speakerphones are favorable to a cell phone user because he or she can speak on the phone without holding the unit. The user’s hands are free to do other things while on a call from cooking to driving.

The price of Bluetooth headsets, when compared to regular corded ones, is naturally more expensive but, fortunately, with the fierce competition in the tech industry you can expect that the prices would eventually go down as in the case of most computer hardware.

Right now, headsets are more popular than speakerphones but the latter is starting to gain some ground. A common question when it comes to choosing between phone headsets and speakerphones is that if the two devices serve the same purpose – wireless and hands-free phone conversations – why should you choose one over the other?

The answer to this actually depends on personal preference but most use speakerphones instead of headsets because they find it uncomfortable to have something inside their ears the whole time they are driving. A perfect scenario to use a speakerphone while driving is when you have company so you can still answer a call when it comes through but remain free to have a conversation with your wife or son or whoever you are with in the car.

Some people also prefer to use a speakerphone in their office rather than a headset.
Using a Bluetooth speakerphone in the car may also be safer than a Bluetooth headset, especially for long road trips when having something plugged in your ear may be uncomfortable. It is not unusual for someone to own both a headset and a speakerphone, so you can actually purchase both and just use which one you feel is the most appropriate for a particular time.
